Boy with enterovirus infection dies

The Centre for Health Protection is investigating a fatal paediatric enterovirus infection case involving a 10-year-old boy.
 
He fell ill on August 4 and was admitted to Caritas Medical Centre on August 15. He was transferred to Princess Margaret Hospital the next day and died on August 24.
 
He tested positive for enterovirus.
 
His home contacts have no symptoms.
 
The case has been referred to the coroner.
