Live poultry imports from the Mainland will resume tomorrow, starting with pigeons.
The Food & Health Bureau announced today that 500 live pigeons will be imported tomorrow, while live chicken imports will resume later.
Secretary for Food & Health Dr Ko Wing-man said a lot of work has been done on the resumption of poultry imports, and some Guangdong chicken farms have started preparation work to resume exports to Hong Kong.
However, he said, Hong Kong must adopt stringent H7N9 infection control measures, as sporadic human infections will occur on the Mainland this winter.
On the Ebola virus, Dr Ko said yesterday's drill tested the healthcare system's preparedness for any cases, and showed the protection offered to medical personnel is sufficient.
