Dongguan H7N9 case reported

Guangdong authorities today alerted Hong Kong to a confirmed human case of avian influenza A(H7N9) affecting a three-year-old boy in Dongguan.
 
The boy is now receiving treatment in hospital. Three of his close contacts have flu-like symptoms, but none have tested positive for the virus.
 
So far 137 human cases of H7N9 have been confirmed on the Mainland.
 
No confirmed human cases of the disease have been recorded in Hong Kong.
