The monthly average ovitrap index for June rose to 14% from 11.3% in May, the Food & Environmental Hygiene Department announced today.
The ovitrap indices reflect the prevalence of
Aedes albopictus, a mosquito vector for Dengue fever transmission.
Of the 44 areas surveyed last month, 11 exceeded the alert level of 20%, including Tseung Kwan O (30.5%), Kwun Tong Central (28.6%), and Shau Kei Wan and Sai Wan Ho (25.4%).
The monthly ovitrap index for port areas in June rose to 1.9% from 1.1% in May.
