Man treated for NDM-1

The Centre for Health Protection today confirmed a case of New Delhi metallo-beta-lactamase-1 (NDM-1) Carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae in a 29-year-old man.
 
He travelled to India from January 18 to February 12. He sought medical attention at a clinic in India for a fever on February 6.
 
He was admitted to Princess Margaret Hospital on February 18 and tested positive for NDM-1.
 
He was discharged on February 20.
 
It is the 24th case of NDM-1 detected in Hong Kong.
