Boy treated for influenza A

The Centre for Health Protection is investigating a case of severe paediatric influenza A affecting a five-month-old boy.
He fell ill on February 9 and was admitted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital on February 12.
The clinical diagnosis was acute bronchiolitis, and he tested positive for influenza A. He is stable.
He has no recent travel history. His mother developed a cough on February 2 and her symptoms are resolving. His other home contacts are asymptomatic.
