Baby treated for EV infection

The Centre for Health Protection is investigating a case of severe paediatric Enterovirus infection affecting a two-month-old boy who lives in Shenzhen.
He fell ill on December 14 and was admitted to a hospital in Shenzhen the next day. He was then admitted to Tseung Kwan O Hospital on December 16.
The clinical diagnosis was meningitis due to EV infection. He was discharged on December 21.
He tested positive for Coxsackie virus group B type 3, part of the Enterovirus genus.
His home contacts are asymptomatic.
