Chinese medicines recalled

October 08, 2012
The Department of Health today ordered Yeung Ng Tong Medical Manufactory to recall two registered Chinese medicines.

They are Tiao Jing Bu Xue Pills (registration number: HKP-00782) and Yeung Ng Tong Tin Hee Pills (registration number: HKP-15616). Both products are used for relieving menstrual discomfort.

Two non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, diclofenac and indomethacin, were found in the products.

Users may develop complications like gastrointestinal ulcers, and products containing these drug ingredients are classified as Part I (Third Schedule) poisons under the Pharmacy & Poisons Ordinance (Cap. 138), and they can only be sold on a doctor's prescription.

Yeung Ng Tong has set up a telephone hotline (2557 2686) for enquiries.
