Man ill with NDM infection

The Centre for Health Protection has identified a confirmed case of New Delhi metallo-β-lactamase Carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae in a 57-year-old man with underlying illness.
He had travelled to Guangzhou for an operation at the end of August.
He was admitted to Queen Mary Hospital on September 13 with persistent wound pain, shortness of breath and other symptoms.
He tested positive for NDM Carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae.
His condition improved and he was discharged from hospital on September 21.
His home contact had no symptoms of infection.
This is the 14th detected case of NDM in Hong Kong.
