Olympic medallists to show their skills

August 13, 2012
Gold medallists from China's Olympic team will visit Hong Kong for three days from August 24.

Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs Raymond Young announced the visit today, saying the athletes will show their sporting skills in demonstrations.

They will meet the public in three groups on the morning of August 25. Two groups will give badminton and table tennis demonstrations at Queen Elizabeth Stadium, and a diving demonstration at Kowloon Park.

Another group will take part in an exchange session with uniformed youth groups at Siu Sai Wan Sports Centre.

The Mainland Olympic Gold Medallists Extravaganza will be held on the same evening at Hong Kong Stadium.

Director of Leisure & Cultural Services Betty Fung said there will be a lucky draw to win badminton and table tennis rackets autographed by the players, and T-shirts autographed by divers.

About 3,400 tickets will be available from City Hall, the Cultural Centre, Sha Tin Town Hall, and Tuen Mun Town Hall, from August 15. For the extravaganza show, 26,500 tickets will be available at URBTIX from August 16.

More than 4,000 tickets will be reserved for distribution by the Social Welfare Department to the underprivileged.
