Preventive measure:  The Department of Health has endorsed the recall of Quick Acting Gan Mao Qing Capsules from shelves by licensed proprietary Chinese medicines wholesaler Kin Lik Trading Company Limited.

Two Chinese medicines recalled

May 24, 2012
The Department of Health today ordered licensed wholesaler Kin Lik Trading Company Limited to recall registered proprietary Chinese medicine Superior Gan Mao Qing Capsules, as it contains excessive chromium.

A total recall of products in capsule dose form that Kin Lik imports is warranted in the interest of public safety, the department said. A second medicine, Quick Acting Gan Mao Qing Capsules, is also to be recalled.

The affected products' capsules were obtained from the Mainland. The department is liaising with the Mainland authority for more information and follow-up. So far, no adverse reports related to the products have been received.

People can call the wholesaler's hotline, 2498 5063, for enquiries. Those who have purchased the product should stop using it immediately and send it to the department at 16/F, Two Landmark East in Kwun Tong.

Anyone who has used the products and feels unwell should seek a doctor's advice.
