Crested myna tests positive for H5N1

May 07, 2012
A dead crested myna found in Yuen Long has been confirmed to be H5N1 positive, the Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Department says.

The carcass was found and collected near Santa Monica Avenue, Royal Palms, Yuen Long, on April 27. The species is a common resident bird in Hong Kong.

The department will continue to conduct inspections of poultry farms to ensure that proper precautions against avian influenza have been implemented.
