Pill recall:  The Department of Health has ordered GlaxoSmithKline to recall two more strengths of Augmentin, found to contain plasticisers.

More Augmentin tablets recalled

August 02, 2011
The Department of Health today ordered GlaxoSmithKline to recall two more strengths of Augmentin, which have been found to contain plasticisers.

The products are the 625mg tablet (registration no.HK-44027) and the 1g tablet (registration no.HK-42252), both manufactured at its plant in Worthing, England.

The department launched an investigation following the recall of the Augmentin 375mg tablet here in mid-July, and found plasticisers in some samples of Augmentin 625mg and 1g tablets.

The levels detected are unlikely to cause safety concern if the tablets are taken according to the recommended dosage.

The manufacturer has set up a hotline 3189 8765 for public enquiries.
