Japanese produce tests bolstered

March 12, 2011

The Centre for Food Safety has stepped up surveillance of Japanese fresh produce imports such as milk, vegetables and fruits, to test radiation levels.

This measure follows an explosion in a nuclear power plant in Japan after an earthquake.

The centre will liaise with the Japanese authorities for more information, and monitor the situation.
