Games gathering:  Hong Kong's athletes who competed in the Guangzhou 2010 Asian Para Games are given certificates at their welcome-home ceremony.

Ceremony held for Para Games athletes

December 20, 2010

Chief Executive Henry Tang and Secretary for Home Affairs Tsang Tak-sing today hosted a welcome-home ceremony for Hong Kong's athletes who competed in the Guangzhou 2010 Asian Para Games.

The delegation scored 28 medals - five gold, nine silver and 14 bronze.

The ceremony was held at a Tsim Sha Tsui hotel.

Mr Tang praised the athletes for their excellent performances and he and Mr Tsang presented them with certificates of appreciation.

Mr Tang said while it was encouraging to have won medals, what was more significant was that in the course of the games, the athletes could excel, give play to their potential and enjoy valuable experiences, thereby enhancing their level to reach a win-win situation.

The games were held from December 12 to 19, with Hong Kong fielding its largest-ever delegation at the event - 107 athletes competing in 14 events.
