Secretary for Home Affairs Tsang Tak-sing extended his congratulations to Hong Kong athletes on winning one gold, two silver and one bronze medals in the Guangzhou Asian Games today, bringing Hong Kong's medal tally to 17.

 

Mountain cyclist Chan Chun-hing won gold in the men's cross-country event, while fencer Au Sin-ying came second in the women's individual sabre.

 

The rowing team won a silver and a bronze with So Sau-wah and Chow Kwong-wing finishing second in the men's lightweight double sculls, and Leung Chun-shek, Liao Shun-yin, Tang Chiu-mang and Kwan Ki-cheong coming third in the men's lightweight four event.

 

"We are excited by the performances of our athletes who have won four medals today. Their outstanding performances deserve our praise. I encourage them to keep up their efforts and try their best to achieve excellent results in the coming events," Mr Tsang said.
