Hong Kong will host the International Society for Quality in Healthcare - or ISQua - conference next year, the first to be held in Asia.
Director of Health Dr PY Lam signed the agreement in Paris today. The Hong Kong conference, to be held September 14 to 17, will be ISQua's 28th international conference. Its theme will be "Patient Safety: Sustaining the Global Momentum".
Two-thousand health administrators, hospital-management and healthcare professionals are expected to attend, Dr Lam said.
ISQua is an independent, non-governmental organisation which works on quality practice and performance improvement of healthcare worldwide through education, research, collaboration and the dissemination of evidence-based knowledge. It has accredited many renowned healthcare and accreditation organisations, including the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards, the accrediting agent for the Pilot Scheme on Hospital Accreditation in Hong Kong. Established in 1985, ISQua has members in more than 70 countries.
