97 commended for social service

Secretary for Home Affairs Tsang Tak-sing has presented commendation certificates and medals to 97 people for their contributions to community-building and social services.

 

Speaking at the Secretary for Home Affairs' Commendation Scheme presentation ceremony today, Mr Tsang said: "The distinguished people here today have been making contributions in various areas to help promote community building and social services."

 

He congratulated the award recipients and encouraged them to continue strengthening their networks to build a united and better future for Hong Kong.

 

The Secretary for Home Affairs' Commendation Scheme, introduced in 2002, recognises people making outstanding contributions to community building, community service, as well as the development of sport, culture and the arts.

 

Altogether 1,153 distinguished people have been awarded certificates of commendation over the past eight years.
