Financial Secretary Paul Chan says the new land supply task force will serve as a platform for different community sectors to explore land supply options, while the existing Steering Committee on Housing Land Supply chaired by him reviews and follows up on land supply policies and measures that have been laid down by the Government.
He made the comments to reporters tonight when asked how the duties of the two bodies will be delineated.
He said the committee is a body formed within the Government while the task force consists mainly of non-official members.
He added the Government hopes the task force can come up with solutions so the work to increase land supply can be expedited.
Commenting on the latest retail sales value figures, Mr Chan said he is optimistic about retail sales prospects in the second half of the year with due consideration to geopolitical risks.
