The Financial Services & the Treasury Bureau has launched a three-year pilot programme to enhance talent training for the asset and wealth management sector.
The programme aims to attract new blood for, and enhance the professional competency of, the sector to enhance its sustainable development.
The programme includes a financial incentive scheme for professional training, under which financial services practitioners can be reimbursed 80% of fees, up to a ceiling of $7,000 per person, upon satisfactory completion of selected courses offered by the Hong Kong Securities & Investment Institute and the Hong Kong Institute of Bankers.
An internship programme will also be introduced to raise undergraduate students' understanding of the sector and attract them to join the profession upon graduation.
A steering committee, comprising representatives from industry associations, academia and the financial regulators, has been set up to advise on the implementation plans and budgets, monitor and review progress, and make recommendations for follow-up actions.
