Agriculture, design upgrades ready

January 13, 2016

The Government will implement its New Agriculture Policy and will also introduce measures to promote local fashion design and brands, and launch the Fashion Incubation Programme.

Delivering his 2016 Policy Address today, Chief Executive CY Leung said the New Agriculture Policy will see the setting up of an Agricultural Park.

It will also see the implementation of a $500 million Sustainable Agricultural Development Fund.

He said the Government will explore the feasibility of designating agricultural priority areas, providing better support and assistance to help farmers move up the value chain, in areas such as product marketing and brand building, and developing leisure and educational activities related to agriculture.

On the fashion front, pilot measures will be rolled out over the next three years to boost promotion of local fashion design and brands, provide technical training and support for the trade and launch the Fashion Incubation Programme.

The Government will also increase the admission quota of the Design Incubation Programme.
