Alert issued on bogus calls

August 12, 2015

The Monetary Authority today warned people about suspicious phone calls purportedly from its staff asking for personal information.

The callers claim irregularities have been detected in the person's mortgage loans.

In a statement responding to public enquiries, the authority made it clear that no phone calls are made by its staff to any member of the public in relation to such issues.

Its staff would not ask for sensitive personal information by phone or email, it added.

Anyone who has provided personal information to these callers should contact their bank or Police on 2860 5012.
