Toasting tourism:  Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Gregory So proposes a toast at the luncheon in Toronto.

Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Gregory So promoted Hong Kong as a tourist destination for Canadian visitors at a luncheon co-hosted by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and the Hong Kong Tourism Board in Toronto on June 8.

Mr So noted that the board has been promoting tourism exchange between Hong Kong and Canada over the years, and has been working closely with the country's travel trade.

He said that with the effort of both sides, more Canadians are visiting Hong Kong and they stay longer than average.

Mr So added that the board is promoting Hong Kong's unique cultural flavour and excitement to meet visitors' expectations of a more genuine cultural experience.

He also pointed out that the Hong Kong Dragon Boat Carnival will be held in Victoria Harbour early next month, and encouraged the luncheon guests to visit the city to experience its charm.
