Chow Chung-kong has been re-appointed as Hong Kong Exchanges & Clearing Limited Chairman with immediate effect.
Mr Chow's chairmanship will coincide with his term as a HKEx Board director, which will expire at the end of the 2016 annual general meeting.
Announcing the approval today, Financial Secretary John Tsang said the Government is confident that with Mr Chow's leadership, the HKEx will strive to enhance Hong Kong's market quality and competitiveness, and strengthen the city's position as the premier capital-raising and risk-management platform in the region.
HKEx directors elected Mr Chow as chairman at the April 17 board meeting. The Financial Secretary appointed him as a board director in March for a two-year term.
