Business registration fee may be waived

October 26, 2011
The business registration fee may be waived in the 2012-13 Budget to relieve inflationary pressure, Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Gregory So says.

He told a lawmaker today in the Legislative Council  the administration will consider whether to introduce one-off measures such as waiving the business registration fee, taking into account the economic situation and the Government's fiscal position.

To further assist Hong Kong enterprises tap the Mainland market, the Chief Executive announced in his Policy Address a proposal to set up a dedicated $1 billion fund.

Mr So said it could provide direct funding to individual enterprises to develop their brands in the Mainland domestic market and support non-profit-distributing support organisations to launch large-scale projects to assist Hong Kong enterprises.

He said the administration will draw up the implementation details and plan to submit a funding application to the LegCo Finance Committee in the first half of 2012.
