Macquarie Bank granted licence

The Monetary Authority has granted a banking licence to Macquarie Bank that takes effect today.
 
Macquarie Bank, incorporated in Australia, is a wholly-owned banking subsidiary of the Macquarie Group.
 
According to the July 2010 issue of The Banker, Macquarie is the sixth largest banking group in Australia in terms of Tier-1 capital.
 
There are now 149 licensed banks in Hong Kong.
