9-day forecasts start

The Hong Kong Observatory has extended its weather forecast period from seven days to nine to span two weekends.It said the move will allow the public to plan their activities in advance and get well prepared.
The average accuracy of predictions for the eighth and ninth days of a forecast is 80%, which the observatory said is comparable to that for the sixth and seventh days of a forecast in the past.
Currently the average accuracy of weather forecasts for the first to third days is 90%, while that of the fourth to seventh days is 85%.
The observatory's new weather forecast webpage displays changes in temperature and humidity in chart form. It also incorporates related climatological information for comparison.
The weather forecast includes forecasts of weather conditions, wind direction, wind speed, temperature and humidity. It will be issued daily at 11.30am and 4.30pm.
