The Government is studying the possibility of building a medium-sized desalination plant in Tseung Kwan O.
Delivering his Policy Address today, Chief Executive Donald Tsang said the Government strives to explore other sources of water supply to meet Hong Kong’s own needs as a responsible member of the Pearl River Delta Economic Zone.
“We have kept abreast of the latest developments in desalination technology and prepared for the related planning and studies so that other water sources can be tapped in good time in case of water shortage,” he said.
The authority is conducting a detailed study and field surveys to assess the feasibility and cost-effectiveness of building a medium-sized desalination plant and a site has been reserved in Tseung Kwan O.
