Acting Chief Executive Matthew Cheung inspected the Security Bureau's Emergency Monitoring & Support Centre after Typhoon Signal No. 8 was hoisted today.
Mr Cheung directed officers to remain vigilant in discharging their duties and closely monitor the city's situation under Typhoon Pakhar.
They should take all possible and immediate action to handle emergencies to protect the lives and property of Hong Kong people, he added.
He thanked government staff working during the inclement weather to ensure public safety.
