Chief Executive Carrie Lam has called Macau Chief Executive Fernando Chui to express her sympathies after Typhoon Hato caused extensive damage to the city.
She told reporters about the call today, saying she believes Macau's government will effectively deal with the storm's aftermath.
She suggested experts in Hong Kong and Macau enhance liaison on city management and flood prevention.
On the Court of Final Appeal's dismissal of activists Yau Wai-ching and Sixtus Leung's bid to appeal their disqualification as lawmakers, Mrs Lam said the ruling has been made by an independent judiciary.
She said the Government will consider by-election arrangements to fill their vacated seats in accordance with the law.
The by-elections will be conducted in a fair and just manner, she added.
