Co-location no cause for worry

The co-location arrangements for the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link will not compromise Hong Kong's rule of law for the sake of passenger convenience.
 
Chief Executive Carrie Lam made the statement to the media before today’s Executive Council meeting, saying the Government has found a solution and a set of arrangements which will fully comply with the Basic Law and the "one country, two systems" principle.
 
"This is not a question of choice between convenience to passengers using the high-speed rail and the rule of law in Hong Kong.
 
"There is no question of that sort of concern and worry that we are compromising on the rule of law, on 'one country, two systems', in order to get the convenience of the high-speed rail."
 
She added, due to the complexity of the issue, the Secretary for Justice will explain the arrangements to the public.
 
"It is very important to understand that the crux of the matter is really to find a means that is legal to support this convenience for the people of Hong Kong."
