Policy Address study starts

July 17, 2017

Chief Executive Carrie Lam today started the consultation work for her first Policy Address.

She met with Legislative Council members of the Business & Professionals Alliance for Hong Kong and the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment & Progress of Hong Kong.

Mrs Lam announced earlier the Policy Address will be advanced to October to allow legislators to scrutinise the Government's policy initiatives and work plan for the next year at the start of the legislative year.

She said, as there are only three months to go, it is hard to conduct a full-scale public consultation exercise for the Policy Address.

“However, I have promised in my manifesto to implement and review a number of policies in light of the views received from various sectors during the electioneering period. Furthermore, when I was the Chief Executive-elect, I got in touch with various sectors and received a lot of constructive ideas from them,” Mrs Lam said.

“With these as the basis, I will continue to listen to the views of members of the public to formulate policies and establish priorities in different areas for the Policy Address."

The Chief Executive, the Chief Secretary and the Financial Secretary will meet representatives from different sectors and note their views.

The public can give views by email, by phone (3655 4343) or by fax (2509 0580).
