Chief Executive CY Leung met Hainan Governor Liu Cigui at Government House today.

He said Hong Kong and Hainan have been working closely in various areas for mutual benefit.

Hong Kong has a large pool of talent and rich management experience in high-end service sectors and can act as a super-connector for Hainan's development, especially in financial and professional services, trade and tourism, complementing Hainan in implementing its "attracting investment" and "going global" strategies, he added.

The Chief Executive noted that the country is pressing ahead with the Belt & Road Initiative and the National 13th Five-Year Plan, and that the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government will seize the enormous opportunities they present.

He also hopes Hong Kong and Hainan continue to strengthen ties in various co-operation areas and promote economic development for mutual benefit.
