Raymond Tam to visit Beijing

Secretary for Constitutional & Mainland Affairs Raymond Tam will lead a delegation to Beijing and Xi'an on October 11 at the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

 

While in Beijing, the delegation will meet with the ministry's officials, the National Development & Reform Commission, the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Culture.

 

Mr Tam will be briefed on the Belt & Road initiative's latest plans and developments. The delegation will also make courtesy calls on the State Council's Hong Kong & Macau Affairs Office and the Taiwan Affairs Office.

 

They will also visit Xi'an from October 14 to 16 and meet with officials to learn about Shaanxi Province's Belt & Road work.

 

Since 1999, officials from both sides have been conducting reciprocal visits annually to enhance communication and mutual understanding.

 

During Mr Tam's absence, Under Secretary Ronald Chan will be Acting Secretary for Constitutional & Mainland Affairs.
