Cultural district chief named

Duncan Pescod has been appointed as the next Chief Executive Officer of the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority, succeeding Michael Lynch.Announcing the appointment today the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority Board Chairman, Chief Secretary Carrie Lam, said the recruitment board unanimously considered Mr Pescod as the most suitable candidate.
"With over 30 years of service in Government, Mr Pescod has accumulated a wealth of executive and management experience. During the past nine months with the authority as its Chief Operating Officer, Mr Pescod has worked very closely with the CEO and the management team in effectively taking forward the project in various aspects.
"His local knowledge and experience will be invaluable in dealing with the complex interfaces required of this highly integrated project, particularly as construction activities in the district intensify."
Mr Pescod will take up the post on August 3, meaning there will be no gap between the outgoing and the new CEO, which will ensure the project progresses at full momentum, she added.
Mr Lynch has agreed to be a special advisor to the authority for one year, and will continue to promote the cultural district internationally with his connections and experience in the global cultural scene.
