Chief Executive CY Leung attended a breakfast meeting with business leaders attending the European Business Summit in Brussels today.
He told them the internationalisation of the renminbi is a dominant trend in global finance and Hong Kong is the most effective partner to give European firms a competitive edge.
Mr Leung also met European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso and European Council President Herman Van Rompuy.
He later attended a luncheon with representatives of the Belgium-Hong Kong Society and other business leaders.
He invited the participants to make the best use of Hong Kong's advantages to seize the huge opportunities in Mainland China and across Asia.
Mr Leung will later meet Belgian King Philippe, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade & European Affairs Didier Reynders.
He will also attend a tea gathering with Hong Kong people living in Brussels before departing in the evening.
