Hong Kong is an ideal neutral venue for providing international legal and dispute-resolution services to Cambodian businesses due to its close proximity to Cambodia and the strong ties built between the two places.
Secretary for Justice Rimsky Yuen made these remarks in a keynote speech at a seminar entitled "Hong Kong - An International Hub for Legal & Arbitration Services" in Phnom Penh today.
He said its robust legal system, strong legal profession, independent judiciary, user-friendly arbitration legislation and effective enforcement of awards, and the availability of experienced international arbitrators and the presence of world-class arbitration institutions, makes Hong Kong an ideal venue for international arbitration services.
Mr Yuen later met Minister of Commerce Chanthol Sun and a group of Hong Kong people living and working in Cambodia.
He will return to Hong Kong tonight.
