CE mourns Lee Quo-wei's death

Chief Executive CY Leung today expressed his sadness over the death of Lee Quo-wei.
He was a veteran banker and former chairman of the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong. He was also a Hong Kong Affairs Adviser, member of the Government's first selection committee, and an unofficial member of the Executive Council and the Legislative Council.
Mr Lee made tremendous contributions to the financial services, education and public services sectors in Hong Kong and to Hong Kong's smooth reunification with the motherland and the successful implementation of 'One country, two systems'. He also engaged heavily in charitable activities.
As the former Education Commission Chairman, Chinese University of Hong Kong Council Chairman, and University of Hong Kong Court Member, Mr Lee was also committed to education development. He was awarded the Grand Bauhinia Medal in 1997.
Mr Leung extended his deepest condolences to Mr Lee's family on behalf of the Hong Kong Government.
