CE's office refutes flight awards allegation
May 31, 2012
The Chief Executive's Office today clarified that the Chief Executive has never used any flight awards arising from duty visits for private purposes since his assumption of office, refuting an allegation in a newspaper article.
The office also reiterated that the Chief Executive will not redeem any flight awards obtained from duty visits for his private use after his term ends.
The office said the Chief Executive has followed arrangements on flight awards that apply to civil servants.
They require a civil servant to report flight awards to his department so that they may be used for subsequent duty trips. When an individual civil servant's flight awards are not expected to be used for duty trips before their expiry, the department may at its discretion permit the civil servant to use them for private purposes.
