Post enumeration survey to start

August 17, 2011
The Census & Statistics Department will conduct a Post Enumeration Survey from August 22 to September 30 to provide information for evaluating the accuracy of the data collected in the 2011 Population Census, which was completed on August 2.

The survey, which will be held 9am to 10pm Mondays to Fridays but excluding public holidays, will cover 16,000 quarters, which have been selected through a random sampling procedure.

Census officers will visit these selected quarters to collect basic information on households. The department will mail a letter in advance to these quarters, informing households of the survey arrangements.

Census officers conducting the survey will carry a Government Identity Card and a certificate issued by the department. Households should check the identity of the census officers before admitting them.

The survey is being conducted as a voluntary statistical survey. All data collected will not be released to unauthorised parties.

Call the department on 3695 0454 for enquiries, or to check the identity of census officers.
