Chief Executive Donald Tsang has written to Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan, to extend to the people of Japan and the Japanese Government his deep sympathy and condolences following the earthquake and tsunami that struck the country today.
Mr Tsang said he was deeply saddened by the loss of life and destruction that this natural disaster has caused. The Hong Kong Government stood by the Japanese people in facing this crisis and stood ready to offer any help that they might consider useful during this difficult time.
