3.9k local virus cases reported

October 6, 2022

The Centre for Health Protection today said it is investigating 3,993 additional locally acquired COVID-19 cases, of which 1,075 were identified through nucleic acid tests and 2,918 via rapid antigen tests.

Separately, 325 imported cases were detected.

Furthermore, one residential care home for the elderly and two for disabled people logged eight virus cases involving their residents.

There were also 729 positive cases concerning 630 students and 99 staff filed by 459 schools.

In addition to reporting that six more patients passed away in public hospitals due to the coronavirus, the Hospital Authority registered five more critical patients, bringing the number of patients in critical condition to 38.

Due to a number of positive cases, 62 specified places are included in a compulsory testing notice. It also covers another five places in Chai Wan, Kowloon Bay, Ho Man Tin and Lai Chi Kok where some sewage samples tested positive for the virus.

The Government will set up ad-hoc mobile specimen collection stations at Bellagio in Sham Tseng, Park Island in Ma Wan and Hung Fuk Estate in Hung Shui Kiu tomorrow.

Since there were positive sewage test results with relatively high viral loads in several areas of Central & Western, Tuen Mun and Yuen Long districts, the Housing Department and respective district offices will distribute COVID-19 rapid test kits to relevant residents as well as cleaning workers and property management staff working there.
