8k local COVID-19 cases logged

September 15, 2022

The Centre for Health Protection today said it is looking into 8,023 additional locally acquired COVID-19 cases, of which 2,323 were identified through nucleic acid tests and 5,700 via rapid antigen tests.

Separately, 164 imported cases were found and six more patients passed away.

Additionally, 11 residential care homes for the elderly or disabled people logged 17 virus cases.

The centre was also notified about 1,064 coronavirus cases from 664 schools, involving 893 students and 171 staff.

Due to a number of positive cases, 60 specified places are included in a compulsory testing notice.

The mobile specimen collection station at Shek Pai Wan Estate in Southern District will extend its services until Saturday.

Since there were positive sewage test results with relatively high viral loads in several areas in Eastern, North, Central & Western and Sha Tin districts, the Housing Department and respective district offices will distribute COVID-19 rapid test kits to relevant residents as well as cleaning workers and property management staff working there.
