HK reports 4.7k COVID-19 cases

August 14, 2022

The Centre for Health Protection today said it is looking into 4,764 additional locally acquired COVID-19 cases, of which 1,534 were directly identified through nucleic acid tests and 3,230 via verified rapid antigen tests.

Separately, 215 imported cases were reported and three more patients passed away.

The centre added that five residential care homes for the elderly identified infection cases.

This afternoon, the Government made a restriction-testing declaration to cover Tower 6 of Ocean Shores in Tseung Kwan O, requiring people in the restricted area to undergo compulsory testing before the specified deadline.

Due to a number of positive cases, 61 specified places are included in a compulsory testing notice. It also covers four specified premises in Cheung Sha Wan, Tuen Mun and Sha Tin where some sewage samples tested positive for the virus.

The Government will reopen the mobile specimen collection stations at Wah Fu (II) Estate in Pok Fu Lam and Park Island in Ma Wan tomorrow, while the service period of the one at Cheung Wang Estate in Tsing Yi will be extended to August 16.

As there were positive sewage test results with relatively high viral loads in several areas in Eastern, North and Kwai Tsing districts, the Housing Department and the respective district offices will distribute COVID-19 rapid test kits to relevant residents as well as cleaning workers and property management staff working there.
