June 20, 2022

The Centre for Health Protection today said it is looking into 1,186 additional locally acquired COVID-19 cases, of which 435 were directly identified through nucleic acid tests and 751 via rapid antigen tests which were verified.

Separately, 141 imported cases were reported.

The centre also received notifications of 408 positive cases from 289 schools over the weekend, comprising 335 students and 73 school staff.

Meanwhile, the Government made a restriction-testing declaration to cover Tower 1A, IIIB, The Wings in Tseung Kwan O, requiring people in the restricted area to undergo compulsory testing before the specified deadline.

Due to a number of positive cases, 22 specified places are included in a compulsory testing notice.

The notice also includes Ming Wah Dai Ha in Shau Kei Wan and Man Ming House of Chun Man Court in Ho Man Tin where some sewage samples tested positive for the virus.

Mobile specimen collection stations have been set up in various districts to facilitate people subject to mandatory testing.

As there were positive sewage test results with relatively high viral loads in several housing estates in Yuen Long, Yau Tsim Mong and Kowloon City, the Housing Department and respective district offices will distribute COVID-19 rapid test kits to relevant residents as well as cleaning workers and property management staff working there.
