The Centre for Health Protection today said it is looking into 505 additional COVID-19 cases, of which 151 were detected by nucleic acid tests and 354 were identified via rapid antigen tests.

Among the new cases, 34 are imported while the rest are locally infected.

Since the onset of the fifth wave of the epidemic, 1,200,573 people have contracted the virus and 9,166 people passed away.

Of the newly reported cases, the clusters of two bars in Central registered 21 more cases, with 17 of them from Iron Fairies & J.Boroski bar and the remaining four from Zentral bar.

The accumulated cases of the two bars reached 49 and 31 respectively.

Separately, the Government made restriction-testing declarations to cover Shun Hei House of Siu Hei Court in Tuen Mun and Hung Lai House of Hung Fuk Court in Aberdeen. People in the restricted areas are required to undergo compulsory testing before the specified deadline.

Due to a number of positive cases, 47 specified places are included in a compulsory testing notice.

Mobile specimen collection stations will be set up at Tak Keung Court in Lok Fu and Hong Kong Garden in Tsing Lung Tau while the mobile station at MacPherson Playground in Mong Kok will be relocated from the football pitch to the basketball court tomorrow.

As there were positive sewage test results with relatively high viral loads in several buildings and housing estates in Tuen Mun, Tai Po and Tsuen Wan, the Housing Department and respective district offices will distribute COVID-19 rapid test kits to relevant residents as well as cleaning workers and property management staff working there.
