251 virus cases found

May 25, 2022

The Centre for Health Protection today said it is investigating 251 additional COVID-19 cases, of which 104 were detected by nucleic acid tests and 147 were identified via rapid antigen tests.

Among the new cases, 28 are imported while the rest are locally infected.

A total of 1,198,456 people have contracted the virus since the onset of the fifth wave of the epidemic.

The centre added that two more patients passed away, bringing the total number of deaths in the fifth wave to 9,159.

Separately, the Government made restriction-testing declarations to cover Hing Wan House of Sui Wo Court in Sha Tin and Wah Sui House of Tin Wah Estate in Tin Shui Wai.

People in the restricted areas are required to undergo compulsory testing before the specified deadline.

As there were positive sewage test results with relatively high viral loads in several buildings and housing estates in Islands, Sha Tin and Kwai Tsing districts, the Housing Department and respective district offices will distribute COVID-19 rapid test kits to relevant residents as well as cleaning workers and property management staff working there.

Furthermore, due to a number of positive cases, 42 specified places are included in a compulsory testing notice.
