The Centre for Health Protection today said it is investigating seven additional imported COVID-19 cases, six of which involve the L452R mutant strain while one entails the N501Y mutant strain.

The newly reported cases concern four men and three women. Six of them arrived from high-risk places and one came from a then medium-risk place.

Four of the patients tested positive upon arrival at Hong Kong International Airport, two were confirmed as being infected with the virus during quarantine at designated quarantine hotels and the other one, a foreign domestic helper, tested positive while under quarantine at Penny's Bay Quarantine Centre.

Among the new cases, case number 12482 involves a 39-year-old man who lives at a house in Shouson Hill.

The patient departed for Denmark on November 22 after testing negative for COVID-19 on November 20. He arrived in Hong Kong on December 5 from Germany by flight VS206 via the United Kingdom, and his specimen collected upon arrival tested negative for the virus.

His sample on day 3 in a designated quarantine hotel tested positive. He developed symptoms on that day and it was determined that his specimen carried the L452R mutant strain.

The places where the patient visited in Hong Kong during the incubation period are included in a compulsory testing notice.

Case number 12483 involves another 39-year-old man who lives at Po Shan Mansion in Taikoo Shing.
