1 imported COVID-19 case found

September 13, 2021

The Centre for Health Protection today said it is investigating one additional imported COVID-19 case involving a 26-year-old man who arrived from Qatar.

He had received two doses of the BioNTech vaccine in Hong Kong on April 26 and May 17, and his blood specimen tested positive for anti-spike protein antibodies on July 7.

In view of a previous imported case with the L452R mutant strain, two specified premises the patient had visited are covered in the latest compulsory testing notice for additional testing.

Nineteen schools are subject to compulsory testing after reporting outbreaks of upper respiratory tract infection or influenza-like illness.

A total of 43 cases were reported in Hong Kong in the past 14 days, all of which are imported.
