Travel bubble plan to be reviewed

June 10, 2021

Hong Kong and Singapore will review in early July the target date of inaugural flights under the air travel bubble between the two places and make an announcement on the way forward.

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government said the decision was made taking into account the latest development of the COVID-19 epidemic situation in Singapore, which has been stabilising since early this month.

It said the two governments have been closely monitoring the epidemic situation in both places after the announcement on May 17 about the deferral of the inaugural flights under the air travel bubble.

Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Edward Yau has been in regular dialogue with Singaporean Minister for Transport S Iswaran.

They considered it prudent to keep the developments under review to ensure the epidemic situation is sufficiently stable before deciding on the way forward for the air travel bubble.
